19: NATURAL VS IDEAL IN BIRTH AND MOTHERHOOD

Birth is the emergence of a baby from the body of its mother and beginning their lives as two separate beings.

There is NOTHING about vaginas, epidurals, hospitals, birthing tubs, tearing, mesication, open fields, or candlelight.

Nothing.

And what people mean when they say “natural birth” is an unmedicated vaginal birth. Which has become the gold standard, ideal way to give birth.

Obviously this is a topic I am particularly passionate about, you already know this about me. I am also passionate about sharing our stories, you probably already know this too.

Sharing our stories is and always has been a powerful way to support each other. Learning with and from each other which is why I am so excited to share this week’s episode with Broadway’s Chloe Campbell.

Chloe was five months pregnant when New York City went into lockdown. She took that time to deeply educate herself on the birthing process and committed to a natural birth. And like everything else in motherhood, things didn’t go exactly as planned.

Including the fact that her family in the UK and her husband’s family in Canada have yet to meet their beautiful baby girl Campbell.

My favorite part of the episode is when she talks about how becoming a mother is like opening Pandora’s Box.

Email me here and let me know which part is YOUR favorite!

I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again and again and again. There is no ONE right way, there is only YOUR right way.

Chloe hails from London, UK. She has lived in NYC for 10 years and guesses now she can call it home! She is a performer who has been in multiple musicals in London’s West End and on Broadway. In addition to being the mother of Campbell she is one of the hosts of the podcast Mutha… Chloe was five months pregnant when we went into lockdown in NYC and has a lot to say when it comes to being pregnant, giving birth and parenting through a pandemic!
