What I Told a Room Full of Oncologists Last Week
December 7, 2025
Last week, I had the absolute honor of giving a lecture to the Breast Health Oncology Department at RWJBarnabas Jersey City. They asked me to speak about pelvic floor considerations as patients transition out of active treatment and into survivorship.

*Why have a tomato boob shirt if you’re not going to wear it to speak to breast health oncologists?*
AND…because nothing in the body exists in neither isolation nor a vacuum (and neither do we) I couldn’t just talk about the pelvic floor like it’s some lonely, isolated, little muscle group living alone in a studio apartment!
Absolutely not!
I talk about the pelvic floor as the foundation of every movement pattern, every breath, every moment of stability or strain, every “why does my shoulder feel weird now?” mystery, and every “I didn’t expect THIS to hurt after treatment” surprise.
I talk about how the body reorganizes after surgery, radiation, chemo, hormone suppression, medically induced menopause… and how the pelvic floor is not an afterthought. It’s an anchor.
And then I shared something that surprised the Oncology team and always seems to surprise my clients…
Change doesn’t start with a giant overhaul.
It starts with one sensation.
One muscle waking up.
One breath that lands deeper than the last.
One moment of connection inside one body.
Because when one piece of you shifts, the rest of you reorganizes around that shift.
This is literally how human bodies work.
And how healing works.
After the lecture, one clinician said, “No one has ever explained the pelvic floor this way. This changes everything!”
And that right there is why I do this work.
Because if I can shift how one doctor thinks that ripples into how dozens of patients are supported and those patients ripple that clarity into their own families, bodies, choices, boundaries, and lives.
It’s the kind of domino effect you actually WANT.
Why am I telling you this?
Because when I talk about movement, or the pelvic floor, or your core, or your breath…I am never just talking about “exercises.”
I am talking about you feeling at home in your body again.
I am talking about rebuilding the foundations that support your whole life.
I am talking about empowerment in the most literal sense: power inside your body returning back to YOU.
And if you’re here reading this email, I want this for you too!!!
Next week I’m sharing a special workshop I created for people moving out of active treatment and into survivorship. A gentle, grounding movement experience designed to help you rebuild strength, confidence, and connection one breath, one muscle, one moment at a time.
(It also helps for people working their way through the heightened holiday season. Just sayin…)
More to come. But today, I just wanted to bring you into the room with me.
Healing may start in one body, but none of us heal alone.
As always, I’ve got your back. I’ve got your front. And I’ve got your undercarriage.
