41: FINDING YOUR WORTH

This keeps coming up and we can’t talk about it enough; why do we so often wait until motherhood to find and own our worth? I mean, we know why (hint: all of the systems in place to keep women small and quiet) and still, it is our work now to create new systems for the next generation.

And what does that require? It required us to opt out of garbage, reparent ourselves, and own our f*cking worth.

Warning: I say at least TWO very smart things in this episode. Ryanne Glasper, our guest, says more than two smart things.

Ryanne is very special to me. I first met Ryanne when I hurt back in 2013. She then treated me for whatever injuries I got from whatever show I was in and she was the first person I told out loud that I was going to be filing for divorce. She’s since moved out of NYC which breaks my heart, but I worked with her virtually to recover from my birth injury physically and emotionally.

Ryanne has been a physical therapist for more than twelve years. Using an embodied and embodied approach to physical therapy and wellness, she has inspired her clients to find joy in self-care. In 2020, Ryanne opened a private telehealth physical therapy practice specializing in Dance Medicine and Pelvic Health, offering patients high-quality care that addresses injuries and overall health.

Ryanne began her career as a physical therapist at PhysioArts Physical Therapy (that’s where I met her!) and has worked with shows such as Billy Elliot and The Book of Mormon. She was also a staff therapist with the RadioCity Rockettes, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Gelsey Kirkland Academy.

In addition to her private practice, Ryanne has been a touring therapist with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for the past five years and is the founder of The Danseur Project. Perhaps, most importantly, she is mommy to Isabel James (4), a student of the performing arts and already a bonafide performer.
